You Be the Judge was the brainchild of the Women Judges’ Fund for Justice, a national nonprofit research and educational organization, which developed the original curriculum. 

Since 1991, the VWAA has taken this program and tailored it to the judicial selection process in Virginia.  You Be the Judge is designed to encourage more women and minorities to seek judgeships by making the process less mysterious and so more attainable. 

The program brings together judges at all levels of the judiciary in Virginia, as well as lawyers and legislators, to help “aspiring judges” chart their course. Today, this award winning program is recognized as the guide to becoming a judge in Virginia.
